LGBTQ & Aging

“Then & Now: exploring LGBTQ stories across generations “is a multi-generational documentary showcasing LGBTQ identifying people from Greensboro and surrounding areas. We had an awesome turnout for the community screening and discussion at Carousel Cinemas in Greensboro on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and look forward to sharing these incredible stories with even more folks across the state. Watch the full movie below.

Coming Up
LGBTQ Elder Toolkit: CAN-NC is creating a LGBTQ Elder Toolkit utilizing interviews from the “Then & Now: exploring LGBTQ stories across generations” documentary and supplemental printed materials to educate healthcare staff and other aging service providers about the issues facing older people who identify as LGBTQ in our state. The Toolkit will feature the 30 minute Then & Now documentary followed by short segments on specific topics such as terminology, discrimination, family, religion, and legal issues. An accompanying booklet will include questions for discussion as well as stats, common myths, resources and more. The Toolkit and associated training program by CAN-NC staff will launch in the fall of 2015. For more information contact Lia Miller at lia@can-nc.org or 336-253-0856.
